2005 wurde der Verein B-Sides gegründet, um aussergewöhnliches Kunst- und Kulturschaffen zu unterstützen, zu fördern und zu vermitteln. In den letzten Jahren wuchs das Festival auch zu einer Plattform für wichtige gesamtgesellschaftliche Themen an. Wir wollen unsere Besucher nicht nur mit wundervollen Musik beschallen, sondern auch mit ausgesuchten Themen konfrontieren, welche unsere Welt, Kultur und Zukunft bewegen.
Dieses Jahr begleitet das Festival das Projekt «The art of a culture of hope» der Zürcher Performancekünstlerin Jessica Huber und dem britischen Performer James Leadbitter. Damit wollen wir unsere Umgebung auf die beiden wichtigen Emotionen Hoffnung und Furcht sensibilisieren. All unsere Festival-Ressorts werden sich dem Thema annehmen. Zusammen möchten wir einen neuen Raum für Potenzial schaffen.

The B-Sides festival was initiated over 11 years ago to support and foster extraordinary music and other arts. Its name relates to the B-Side of a vinyl, which is often considered less interesting, although in our opinion it usually tends to be the much more interesting, expressive, and moving one.
Over the past few years the B-Sides has also grown to an important platform for societal themes. We want our audience not only to experience beautiful music during our festival but also want to confront them with significant topics that concern our world, culture, and our future.
With this year’s projects The art of a culture of hope (founded by the Swiss and English artists Jessica Huber and James Leadbitter) and our hashtag #zweitausendjetzt (twothousandnow) we want to communicate a matter of the heart, and confront our surrounding with two of the most essential and powerful emotions «Hope» and «Fear». The idea is to build all of the festival departments based on this concept, and together build new spaces for potential.
